We hit the coast this past weekend. Our first family trip!
We left right before baby was due for his AM nap, and bless his heart, he slept the whole 80 minute ride without as much as a peep. When we got there, he was wide awake, so we bundled him up, put him in the Beco, and headed for the ocean. He loved it!!! It was actually 68 degrees (which feels more like 50's on the Oregon coast), but he seemed pretty comfy in his outfit.
After our beach walk, we ate lunch at a nearby restaurant (AJ spent the whole time staring at our food) and then hit the beach again, this time, our arms loaded with blankets. AJ napped while daddy held him under 2 big blankets and his jacket. Little guy didn't mind the cold one bit. M and I enjoyed staring at the waves, the same way we did years before our AJ arrived.
When he woke up, we played with him for a while in the back of my CRV and nursed him before heading back onto the road. The little guy slept soundly ANOTHER 80 minutes.
Family beach trip? Success!!!
BTW, the CRV? Best car ever for our little family. I love that the trunk is basically a mobile changing station and play area for a baby!!! We did a fair amount of hanging out back there to rest in between activities.
